FAQ

Good to know

The questions we hear most, answered. Anything else, just ask.

Still have a question?

Rameez is on WhatsApp and happy to help you plan.

Ask on WhatsApp
Where do the flights leave from?

All scenic flights depart from the heliport at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. We send the exact meeting point with your confirmation. Please arrive 30 to 45 minutes before your flight. Need a lift? Ask us and we can arrange a transfer from your hotel.

How long is each flight?

Flights follow a set route rather than a fixed number of minutes, so time in the air depends on the wind on the day. The City Hopper is the shortest and the Full Peninsula is the longest. Ask us on WhatsApp for a guide time for the flight you have in mind.

Is there a minimum number of guests?

Yes, every flight and experience needs at least two guests. Solo travellers can join the City Hopper or Atlantico on a shared basis, subject to availability.

Can children fly?

Yes, there is no minimum age. Children over two need their own seat. Children aged 7 and under pay 50% when flying with two full-paying adults, and children aged 8 and over pay the adult price.

Are there weight limits?

For safety, the pilot balances every helicopter before take-off. The maximum is 140 kg per seat in the Airbus helicopters and 120 kg per seat in the Robinson R44. If anyone in your group weighs more than 120 kg, please tell us when you book so we can request the right aircraft (a larger helicopter may carry an extra charge).

Can I choose where I sit?

Seats are allocated by the pilot for weight and balance, so they cannot be reserved in advance. Every seat has a window, and the Airbus cabins have raised, forward-facing seats.

What do I need to bring?

Every guest must bring an original passport or South African ID. Photos and copies are not accepted. Sunglasses and a light layer are a good idea, and cameras are welcome.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety always comes first, and the pilots make the final call on the day. If your flight cannot go ahead we will move it to another time that suits you, and if we cannot fly you at all you get a full refund.

Do you land on Table Mountain?

No. Table Mountain is a protected nature reserve, so flights enjoy it from the air. Robben Island flights circle the island; landing there is available as a private experience.

What is the cancellation policy?

Scenic flights can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before departure; within 24 hours the full price is payable. Experiences, Winelands flights and charters can be cancelled free up to 48 hours before; between 48 and 24 hours 50% is payable, and within 24 hours the full price is payable.

How do I pay?

Send us your enquiry and we will confirm availability on WhatsApp, then send you payment details. Your seats are secured once payment is received. Prices are per person in South African rand.
