Cross Table Bay to circle Robben Island, the World Heritage Site where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, then look back at the classic view of Table Mountain.
Robben Island sits in Table Bay, a short hop across the channel from the city. From the air you see the whole island at once: the harbour, the lighthouse, the limestone quarry where political prisoners laboured, and the maximum-security prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years behind bars.
On the way back you get the view every photographer wants, Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head rising behind the city. This flight circles the island without landing; a private landing with a guided tour is available as a premium experience.
